Looking for a list of the best Munich hotels near Oktoberfest? Read on for a full list, put together after hours of research from a Munich local!
I’m not going to sugarcoat it – one of the most expensive parts about attending Munich’s legendary Oktoberfest is simply finding accommodation that won’t cost you your entire life savings.
Without exaggeration, hotel prices skyrocket to 4-5x their regular price, especially on weekends. The scariest part? Paying a premium doesn’t even ensure that your hotel is any good… In fact, hostel dorms where you’re sharing with 9 other snoring humans can even go for 100 euros a night. Yes, that’s the price per bed.
So, my best tip? Book early! Reserve a room! Even if you’re not 100% committed, with sites like Booking.com, you can easily reserve a room in 30 seconds, and have up until a few days before the booking to cancel it. Having this safety net is crucial, or you might literally end up sleeping in the park 😉 As of March 2019, many of these hotels are already looking full.
So let me help you out. If you’re looking for the best hotels near Theresienwiese, AKA home to the famous Oktoberfest grounds, then I’ve carefully curated this list for you!
All of the hotels listed below are within 20 minutes walking distance of Theresienwiese, which is perfect for stumbling home and not worrying about deciphering Munich’s public transport system or over-paying for a taxi. Staying at one of these will be a bit pricier than staying outside the city, but the convenience, ease of mind, and time you save is invaluable.
I’ve also vetted every hotel on this list to ensure a rating of 8 and higher on Booking.com. While these reviews aren’t an absolute authority, they are pretty good at weeding out the groddy, unsafe and dirty hotels you’d never want to stay at, so it’s definitely a good start. You can scroll down to the bottom for a list of ALL the 8+ rated hotels within 20 minutes walk of the Theresienwiese. Otherwise, I’ve broken my recommendations up into different categories.
Again, I highly urge you to just reserve a room (and tables!!) as soon as you see something you like. It’s much easier to cancel than to scramble at the last minute, because trust me, these rooms will NOT get any cheaper. Enjoy!
You can toggle with the arrows on any of the tables below to sort the lists by rating, walking distance, amenities, etc.
Budget Hotels in Munich Close to Oktoberfest
I’ve always considered accommodation to be one of the least important considerations when it comes to Oktoberfest. After all, when you’re three Maß deep and the room’s already spinning, you probably won’t be able to discern the difference between a 2 star hotel and a 4 star, you know what I mean?
So, if your #1 priority is an excellent location, but you wouldn’t mind saving some dough while you’re at it, here are some of the most affordable hotels near Theresienwiese that still have ratings of 8+ on Booking.com. You can also click here to read my full guide on doing Oktoberfest on a budget.

Any other recommendations for hotels in Munich, Germany near Oktoberfest?
Let me know in the comments! Have a great trip.
Any nearby towns that I can take public transit to the site you will recommend ?
Hi Russ, sorry for the late reply! If you are looking for options outside of Munich, pretty much any town near any S-Bahn stop will have an easy connection to the festival site, as the S-Bahn is the suburban rail system that connects all nearby suburbs to the main Munich train station (Hauptbahnhof). From there you can either walk to the Oktoberfest grounds (about 15 min) or transfer onto the U4/U5 or U3/U6, both of which have stops pretty much right at the grounds.
In terms of recommending a specific town, that would depend on what you’re looking for. If it’s just a place to crash, we’d recommend just going on Booking.com and searching by price, then looking at the map to narrow down the options to ones close to an S-Bahn stop. If you want somewhere ‘nice’ with things to do, staying at a lakeside town like Herrsching or Tutzing would be beautiful, but the options there likely won’t be too cheap. Hope that helps!
